Gehrig is a family run vineyard in the heart of the Pfalz. It offers a large variety of top wines, especially red wines and burgundy wines. Gehrig and his team
are not shy to experiment, resulting in a number of unique and very exciting wines, amongst them high quality sweet red table wines. The Gehrig family has always focused on high quality wines,
ignoring the trend of producing cheap main stream wines for the mass market.
Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, the Gehrig vineyard produces very balanced and complex red wines, based on Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Dunkelfelder and Portugieser grapes. In contrast to most German vineries, 70% of Gehrig’s wines are red wines. The good and premium red wines are all aged in Barrique casks. Gehrig also creates excellent Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines. You also find some impressive Rieslings here, which – thanks to the clay soils – are more opulent than those you find in the Mosel and Rheingau.
Gehrig has received numerous awards for his white and red wines, such as:
