Andreas Siben produces outstanding Rieslings in his historic vineyard. He is able to choose from seven different Grand Cru vineyards on the bottom of the famous Hardt mountain. The wines are characterised by intense flavours, richness and a lot of depth. The most outstanding wines come from the Forster Ungeheuer, Deidesheimer Grainhübel, Deidesheimer Langenmorgen and Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten.
Andreas Siben is the tenth generation to run this 300 year old vineyard. From the beginning, the family has put quality over quantity and produced outstanding wines. The vineyard was one of the founding members of the VDP. The most popular products from this vineyard are the outstanding Rieslings. The wines are full of delicate aromas and flavours, have a very good balance of fruitiness, minerality and acidity, and they are sold at a very fair price.
The vineyard switched to sustainable wine production over 20 years ago. This resulted in more complex, purer, healthier and very natural wines, which perfectly express the diversity of the terroir. Not least, the natural vine production contributes to an intact environment and therefore a lower environmental footprint of each wine consumer. The vineyard is member of the ECOVIN association.
Riesling Erste Lage Kalkofen
This excellent Riesling premier cru from the Kalkofen terroir is dense, very elegant and rich in extracts. The limy, clayey and marly soils give the wines unique flavours of peach, apricot and a bit of lemon, with a fine minerality. The wine works very well with Asian cuisine, fish dishes and light poultry dishes.
Riesling Erste Lage Paradiesgarten
This great Riesling comes from the premier cru vineyard Paradiesgarten, with red sandstone soils. It is a good example for a fruity, yet dry Riesling from the Pfalz. Its fruitiness is complemented by a fine minerality and a smooth acidity. It has aromas of apricot and peach. It is a good partner for dishes with fish, chicken and vegetables.
Riesling Großes Gewächs Langenmorgen Großes Gewächs
This premium Grand Cru Riesling from the Langenmorgen vineyard is extremely dense, powerful and complex. It is grown on loam-clay soils and harvested with very low yields. The wine has fine aromas of stone fruits, such as apricot and peach and has a pleasant minerality. It is a perfect partner for exclusive fish dishes, seafood platters and Asian wok dishes.
Riesling Großes Gewächs Ungeheuer
This phenomenal Grand Cru Riesling, from the world famous vineyard Forster Ungeheuer, has an amazing depth, complexity and plenty of power. The soils of new red sandstone, calcareous sandstone and basalt give this wine an amazing diversity and minerality and a very powerful and long finale. The wine has flavours of apple and lemon. The wine is a good partner for very special seafood dishes, such as lobster, crayfish, grilled red snapper, as well as poultry and pork dishes.
The vineyard Georg Siben Erben is located in Deidesheim, one of the top wine producing towns in the Pfalz (see map below).
